The Pelham YMCA was established in 1997 as a result of a joint venture between the Birmingham YMCA and Shelby Baptist Medical Center. The facility was designed with the entire family in mind. Architecture was very modern and boasted over 41,000 square feet of facilities including areas for health and wellness, childcare, basketball, volleyball, field sports and leadership programs for youth, teens, adults, and seniors. Still today, the hospital houses one of their outpatient physical therapy facilities inside our YMCA.
Volunteering is one of the essential ways the Y engages people and helps them to be healthy, confident, and connected to others. The role of volunteers distinguishes the Y as a place where everyone can take an active role in bringing about meaningful, enduring change in the community. The Pelham YMCA is driven by an ongoing assessment of community needs and led by a board of community volunteers. Program volunteers assist with educational programs, mentorships, youth sports, and special projects, as well.
More than a place, the YMCA is a cause. With programs from A to Z – like athletics to advocacy, dance classes to disease prevention, volleyball to volunteerism – we don’t just strengthen individuals, we strengthen our community. Our organization impacts so many people in so many ways. Everyone has a role to play. Together, we can achieve so much more.
We are located near Pelham, Helena, Riverchase, and South Hoover.
Have a pool party year round at the Pelham Y - a great place for birthdays and group events. Parties are scheduled in two hour time slots, including pool and party room time. You may bring your own food, drink, and party decorations to make your day special. A lifeguard will be assigned to your party to swim test, monitor, and coordinate the kids.
2 Hour parties with 75 minutes of swimming and 45 minutes in the party. A two week notice is required to book the party with a $50 non-refundable deposit to reserve the date. All swimmers will be swim tested. No inflatables are allowed.
We've enjoyed the pool all summer long, now it's time for our four-legged family members to get in on the fun!
We have separated our event into 3, 50 minute sessions to maintain a safe environment for you and your pets. Each sessions will plan to host no more than 25 dogs and walk-ins will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Space can be limited so please register early to reserve your spot.
For the safety of our human guests, the Board of Health recommends that no one enter the pool above knee height. As your pet's guardian, you know your dog's behavior and limitations. Please use your best judgement when introducing your pet and do not force them into the water at any time.
Entrance will not be permitted without these two items.
Owners are responsible for their dogs and any injuries caused by them. Any dog or handler dispplaying aggression, non-social, or disruptive behavior will be asked to leave the event. No more than 2 dogs per handler (although 1 dog per handler is suggested).
MISSION: To put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
