Free Food Distribution at the Y, and in the community

For children who rely on free or reduced lunch during the school year, Summer Break leaves a gap in food security. The Community Food Bank of Central Alabama estimates that 100,000+ lose access to food during summer break.  In summer 2026, the YMCA of Greater Birmingham continues its partnership with the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama to give food where it’s needed most. Food distribution days, times and sites vary by community. See the location nearest you:

Locations

Alabaster YMCA: 

117 Plaza Cir, Alabaster, AL 35007
First Tuesday of each month at 9AM.
Recipients may pick up a FREE 15-25 lb. box of fresh, perishable foods, including fresh fruits and vegetables on a first-come first-served basis, via drive-through distribution at the YMCA location parking lot.
