WELCOME
Is your child ready to trade stories, share a favorite book, or sing camp songs with a new friend? Do they like to be greeted with smiles and high-fives from staff and fellow campers for accomplishing something new? Does your child wish to fit in just for being who they are?
At Y Summer Day Camp, we are here to make your kids feel welcome and to help them quickly realize this is a place where they belong and can be themselves – try new things – learn new skills – make new friends – and be a part of something great!
A camp experience can be a powerful tool for personal growth. Knowing this, we strive to offer the highest quality camps with the most diverse opportunities. Great care goes into creating a fun and safe environment. We work hard to hire staff of the highest integrity, personal and spiritual maturity, and are enthusiastic about camp. All staff are fully screened and background checked and receive training in first aid, CPR, safety and child abuse prevention, character building, and program implementation. You can depend on the Y to make sure that camp is well supervised.
Summer Camp seems like a long way off, but it will be here before you know it. We hope that you and your family will join us and help make it their best summer ever.
Sincerely,
Rhonda Elmore
Vice President of Youth Development
WHY CHOOSE US?
Summer of 2022 will offer campers a chance to choose their own adventure in ways never before seen at the Birmingham YMCA Day Camps! Campers will experience daily opportunities to select which games, crafts, or activities they participate in. Not only will they get to follow their own interests, but they’ll make their own path throughout the summer.
Amidst the regular open programming periods, there will be organized events and large group games. Each week, different opportunities for fun will come right to our camps including animal shows and special guests, ready and waiting to visit our campers.
Being part of our summer day camp program goes beyond silly songs and games. Camp is about learning who you are, becoming what you want to be, developing new skills and healthy habits, reaching goals and building relationships. Our summer day camp helps kids gain self confidence, build character, and focuses on the whole child in spirit, mind and body.

NEW! Camp Add-On
We offer sports-based, theme-based and skills-based enrichment programs, in which campers focus on one activity from 9am-12pm, and then join other day campers in traditional camp for lunch and afternoon activities.
Add-on camps are 1-week sessions, and the offerings vary from camp to camp. To attend add-on camps, campers will need to be registered for the same week of traditional day camp. These add-on camps have an additional fee on top of traditional camp, and are generally for a specific age group.
