About us

Northeast Community YMCA

The Northeast Community YMCA was one of the first suburban branches built, in 1962. More than a place, the YMCA Northeast Youth Center served the youth in Birmingham as well as our Active Older Adult population. As the needs of the community changed, it became apparent that the Northeast YMCA was in need of significant upgrades and partnerships to continue strengthening the community we proudly serve.

In August 2025, the Northeast YMCA re-opened as the Northeast Community YMCA, offering many of the same programs as before, plus more exercise options, community gathering spaces, upgraded classrooms for Pre-K and so much more!
