Adult Sports and Activities

Y Adult Sports and Activities provide a variety of opportunities for adults to be active, social and connect with an activity you love. The Y fosters connections with new and old friends through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests.

Masters Swim

Masters Swim welcomes anyone 18 and older who wants to improve their swimming abilities. Our goals are to have fun, improve swimming technique, learn new skills, get faster, and meet people who are like-minded. We welcome all ages and abilities to our program.

Workouts typically range 3000-3500 yards. Workouts are flexible,  often adjusting intervals, sets, and distances to accommodate the varying abilities.

Saturday: 7:00am – 9:00am
Sunday: 12:00pm – 2:00pm

Lanes Reserved and Available at our Shades Valley branch:

Racquetball

Originating in 1950 and popularized in the 80’s, racquetball is still enjoyed today by those devoted to the sport and its conditioning and recreational benefits. Contact your local branch for court availability and reservation information.

Tennis

With 21 clay courts and 3 indoor courts in the Birmingham Metro area, the YMCA offers a variety of tennis programming with opportunities for juniors to adults to play and participate in one of the healthiest lifetime sports available.

Our USPTA certified tennis professionals offer instructional programs for every level. Looking to get in the game? We offer USTA leagues and social mixers at our three tennis locations.

If you’re a first-time triathlete, the Y has the program for you!!

Program Content: Practice your swim, bike, run and transition, connect with a dedicated training group and coach, develop your endurance and technique and learn about training for a sprint distance triathlon.

Warm Water & Weights Group Class
This aerobic program is a full-body workout, focusing on full range of motion, mobility, and flexibility. The water temperature is set at 98 degrees, which is perfect for arthritis, joint pain, and sore muscles. With a smaller group size, you will be able to maximize your training time as well as fellowship with other members.
