The physical, emotional, and financial toll of cancer doesn’t just disappear when treatment ends. LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is a free, evidence-based 12-week exercise program designed for survivors to help them reclaim their well-being after diagnosis.
Led by specialized trainers, LIVESTRONG focuses on the whole person, not just the disease. Participants will discover a supportive community of other survivors and certified instructors to help them every step of the way. Participants report a significant decrease in cancer fatigue, improved fitness, and better confidence and self esteem. Thanks to community and donor support, LIVESTRONG is offered at no cost to participants.
What to expect: Each LIVESTRONG session runs for 10-12 weeks, with two 75-90-minute sessions each week. Classes include a fitness and quality of life assessments before and after participation, cardiovascular conditioning, strength training, balance and flexibility exercises
