Our camp day is built on an open programming model, giving campers daily opportunities to choose the games, crafts, and activities that interest them most. This approach encourages independence, creativity, and ownership—helping children build confidence as they explore their interests throughout the summer.

Weekly Themes and Activities That Keep Camp Exciting
In addition to open programming, campers participate in organized events and large-group games that build teamwork, friendships, and community. With new themes and engaging opportunities each week, every day feels exciting and never repetitive.

Free Swim Lessons and Water Safety Education
Water safety is a critical life skill. The Y offers FREE swim lessons during camp for children who are unable to pass the YMCA swim test or who may lack confidence in the water. Campers identified with a red band receive instruction during swim time to build skills, confidence, and water safety. Parents may opt in or out during registration.

Whole-Child Development: Spirit, Mind, and Body
Y Summer Day Camp goes far beyond songs and games. Our programs are intentionally designed to support the whole child—spirit, mind, and body—helping campers develop confidence, character, healthy habits, and meaningful relationships while having fun every step of the way.

We prioritize the safety and well-being of every child through low staff-to-child ratios, monitored sign-in and sign-out procedures, and active supervision at all times. Our staff are carefully selected, thoroughly screened, and trained to create a safe, supportive environment where children thrive.

Financial Assistance for YMCA Summer Day Camp
The YMCA of Greater Birmingham is committed to ensuring all children have the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive—regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Financial Assistance helps remove barriers to accessing Y programs and services. Awards are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Renewal of Childcare Financial assistance is required at the start of each camp season. Even if your family has been previously approved, please complete the application for consideration.

Deposits will be required at the time of registration for each week. This deposit will hold your child’s spot for that particular week. Deposits are $20 per child per week. Deposits are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another week. 

All fees must be automatically paid from your checking account or debit/credit card. Fees will be scheduled for payment on the Wednesday prior to the week of care. You will be charged for each week you reserve, regardless of attendance, unless you cancel under our cancellation policy.

MULTI-WEEK DISCOUNT
NEW – The YMCA will apply a multi-week discount of $10 per child per week, after registration, to campers with an active membership who register for 6 or more weeks at once on or before May 15, 2026. Membership must be active at the time of registration to receive the discount. At any point, if the camper cancels week(s) and drops below 6 weeks and/or the camper becomes inactive on membership, the multiweek discount will be removed effective with the next scheduled payment.

LATE REGISTRATION
Registration is open online through the Thursday prior to the week of care. Campers registered on Thursday or later for the upcoming week and/or registered after the start of the current week will be charged a $10 late registration fee, and payment will be processed with the weekly fees.

REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY
If the YMCA cancels a week, a full refund will be issued for fees paid. If a parent wishes to cancel a week, 2 weeks’ advance written notice is required, using the appropriate cancellation form. We accept Childcare Central for summer day camp at this location. To have this subsidy applied to your child’s registration, please provide your provider notification letter to the YMCA. Please email this information to childcare@ymcabham.org.

LATE REGISTRATION

REGISTRATION FEE
$79 per child due at the time of registration. *This fee is non-refundable.

WEEKLY FEES/DEPOSITS
$174 per child

Deposits will be required at the time of registration for each week. This deposit will hold your child’s spot for that particular week. Deposits are $10 per child per week. Deposits are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another week. 

All fees must be automatically paid from your checking account or debit/credit card. Fees will be scheduled for payment on the Wednesday prior to the week of care. You will be charged for each week you reserve, regardless of attendance, unless you cancel under our cancellation policy.

LATE REGISTRATION
Registration is open online through the Thursday prior to the week of care. Campers registered on Thursday or later for the upcoming week and/or registered after the start of the current week will be charged a $10 late registration fee, and payment will be processed with the weekly fees.

REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY
If the YMCA cancels a week, a full refund will be issued for fees paid. If a parent wishes to cancel a week, 2 weeks’ advance written notice is required, using the appropriate cancellation form. Registration Fees and Weekly Deposits are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another week. No refunds or credits for weekly fees will be issued for requests that do not meet the 2-week notice, and the weekly balance will be considered due. CHILDCARE CENTRAL SUBSIDY
We accept Childcare Central for summer day camp at this location. To have this subsidy applied to your child’s registration, please provide your provider notification letter to the YMCA. This information should be emailed to childcare@ymcabham.org.
