Group Fitness Classes

Group Fitness

Find community and conditioning in our Group Fitness classes. Our comprehensive class offerings are led by certified instructors who are invested in you and your health and well being.

We feature a mix of nationally branded offerings including Les Mills, Silver Sneakers and Zumba as well as our own innovations and Nationally Certified Instructor created workouts delivered through Indoor Cycle, Dance, Pilates, Y Cross, Y Strong, Yoga and many, many more.

With a scalable approach of intensity and modified movements, our Group Fitness classes are available for a variety of ages and abilities.  Find hundreds of classes per week across our 7 Citywide branches, from early morning to after work and weekends, in a variety of formats including:

(*While our classes are available for members ages 11 and up, those under 14 will find the class formats identified with an asterisk the most suitable. Younger members without prior fitness/training experience, would be encouraged to attend other class formats with a parent/guardian.)

Reservations are encouraged for our Group Fitness classes and are  available to reserve 36 hours in advance.

YGT (Small Group Training)
Registration opens at 8:00a.m. on the 20th of each month for the following month across all branches – only first session will be displayed on the first week of the month

Pilates Reformer

PILATES REFORMER TRAINING  – BEYOND THE MAT! 
Reformer training is for everyone and appropriate for all fitness levels.  Reformer Training addresses the core and more by involving the entire body to achieve increased joint mobility and improvements in strength, stability and posture. Graceful ease of movement is achieved by utilizing the PILATES REFORMER – a machine that uses a series of springs and pulleys to take you through a full-body workout. Other pieces of equipment used include the chair, tower and jumpboard.Our Certified Instructors are available for Personal, Buddy or Group Sessions.

2025 Y Challenge

LARGEST FITNESS 
EVENT OF THE YEAR

 

The 4th Annual Y Challenge will be held on Saturday, October 25 at 8AM. This is a FREE event for members and their guests. Registration opens October, 1.

The Y Challenge is a 60-minute timed interval Challenge with stations incorporating core, bodyweight cardio, upper and lower body strength and endurance. Equipment will consist of dumbbells, kettlebells, mats, and props. The workout will be familiar to active Y members but all members with a base level of fitness will find success in the Challenge. The Y Challenge is a free event, but registration is required. All members are welcome to participate but SPOTS ARE LIMITED!

When:

  • Saturday, October 25
  • Y Challenge Check-In 7:30AM-7:45AM
  • Y Challenge Workout: 8AM
  • Child Watch will open 7:30AM 

Where:

Mountain Brook YMCA

Arrive early to allow time to park. Spots will be limited in the Y front parking lot; Additional parking available in TRUIST BANK parking lot down the hill from the Y.
Indoor/outdoor workout at Mountain Brook branch (inside rain plan).

Swag!

Participants will select a women’s fitted tank or unisex T-shirt at time of registration. T-shirts/tanks will be provided to all participants on the day of the event.

What to bring:

We will have water stations available but feel free to bring your own water bottle & towel. All equipment will be provided including mats.

A quick note about space limitations: 

In order to provide a quality experience, space is limited to 150 participants.

We understand that plans change! If you register for the Y Challenge  and determine that you are unable to attend after registering, please reply to this email so we can give your spot to another member. Thank you!
