YMCA Afterschool Academy is designed to help kids in every community succeed developmentally and academically. At the Y, kids are cultivating the values, skills, and relationships that lead to better achievement in the classroom, positive behaviors, and social skills.  To learn more about the YMCA's Afterschool Academy click here. 
We will not return to on-campus programming on September 21. We will work closely with school administration to determine a return date either later this fall or after the December break.
We will offer bus transportation from Hoover Schools on a limited capacity basis to the following YMCAs:
HOOVER YMCA: Bluff Park, Brock’s Gap, Deer Valley, Gwin, South Shades Crest, Trace Crossing
SHADES VALLEY YMCA: Green Valley, Rocky Ridge, Shades Mountain
PELHAM YMCA: Riverchase
Hours of Operation
Our After school program is open each day from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m.
Dates of Operation
September 21, 2020 - May 27, 2021
*Program will not operate on emergency early release days or during temporary school closures.
Students in grades K-5
$72 per child per week
$65 each additional child per week
Our fees will temporarily move from a monthly rate to our weekly rate for the remainder of this semester. Payments will be due each Wednesday for the next week.
Financial Assistance
The YMCA believes in serving the needs of everyone in our community regardless of their ability to pay full fees.  Financial assistance, based on need, is available for Afterschool Academy.   Awards are given on a first come basis.  For more information click here.  Applications can be emailed to ymcaafterschool@ymcabham.org with the subject line: Hoover YMCA Financial Assistance
Registration will open on Thursday, September 4th for the weeks of 9/21-10/30.  We will open additional weeks once there is more confidence that school will stay in this model of learning.
There is a $25 registration fee per child due at time of registration.  Registration fees are non-refundable.   Click on your child's school to register. 
Cancellation Policy
If a parent wishes to cancel any month or week of After School Academy, a Two (2) Week advance written notice is required. No refunds or credits will be issued for requests not meeting the 2 Week notice and the monthly/weekly balance will be considered due. Please email our Member Account Service team at childcare@ymcabham.org to submit cancellations.
Due to limited bus capacity, the Y requires continuous registration for the entire School Year to maintain a spot in the program. The YMCA is not able to accommodate requests for temporary breaks in service/payment during the school year.  Requests to cancel a service period of After School Care will result in the cancellation of all future service periods/months remaining in the school year beyond to the 2-week required notification. If parents choose to cancel under these terms,  they may re-register when they are ready to return to the program as space allows.
