The Hoover Family Branch YMCA Board of Advisors is a group of well-informed people who guide the activities and strategic growth of the YMCA in Hoover, Al. Board Members share their time, talent and treasure to improve the organization and the quality of services provided.
The Hoover Family Branch YMCA Board of Advisors is working to strategically grow the board to be increasingly representative of the population we serve and to increase philanthropic funds for the greater community.
Board Members commit to two years of volunteer service. They must regularly attend board meetings, actively participate in a committee or taskforce and support all fundraising efforts. Board Members serve as ambassadors and advocates for the YMCA throughout the region. The Hoover Family Branch YMCA Board meets monthly throughout the year.
For more information about becoming a Board Member, please contact Laysea Chasteene at email@example.com or at 205.682.1399.
YMCA branch volunteers help create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Opportunities include greeting members, helping our administrative teams and lending an extra hand where it’s needed.
Generosity comes in many forms, and it's often the best way to support important causes that matter the most in our lives. Each fall, we look for volunteers to lead fundraising teams that help the Association meet our Annual Campaign goals. 100% of the dollars raised toward the YMCA Annual Campaign goes directly to those in need in our own communities.
Like kids? So do we. Volunteer in any one of our many youth programs. Help with homework during YMCA After School, teach a creative skill, read books to kids or lead games.
YMCAs provide child care for parents using the facility. Volunteers are an extra set of hands to rock a baby, or to play games with young children or lead an art project for our older kids. Or volunteer to come and speak about your job or hobby.
Use your talents to encourage, guide and train young athletes at the YMCA by coaching youth sports including basketball, soccer, T-ball and baseball.
You know the Y.
You know us as the place where you learned to swim, or where your kids first played team sports. You know us as the place where you work off stress and those extra pounds you don’t really need. You know us for our personal trainers, who urge you to do just one more rep, or for our group exercise classes like barre, Zumba, Pilates, and yoga that help keep our hearts and minds in shape. You know us as a place where 50 laps in the pool are morning therapy and ten minutes in a sauna after a hard workout is pretty near a perfect moment.
But you may not know the WHY behind the Y. You may not know about the disadvantaged children we teach to swim for free or the after-school care we provide to families who have no other options. You may not know the Y provides summer camp to kids who’ve never seen a lake, never been off “the bricks,” or that the Y helps senior folks who don’t have access to good healthcare to look after their bodies. We’re the Y. And we’re the WHY behind the Y.
Thank you for ensuring the success of The Why Behind The Y Annual Giving Campaign.
