Want to make the most of your YMCA exercise experience? Sometimes the key is adding more people! Participating in group classes is a great way to make exercise more fun, build friendships, and learn creative new methods for building strength, improving your health, and getting in better shape.

The YMCA of Greater Birmingham’s 10 membership branches offers more than 30 different group exercises classes for young and old alike, including family classes and programs geared specifically for seniors. Spin, Step, Pilates, Yoga, Rhythm Dance, Turbo Kick, BODYPUMP® and Zumba are some of the many styles of group fitness training we offer at the Y. A wide range of available meet times, as well as the duration of certain classes, make group sessions a diverse and flexible means for motivating our members toward a more active lifestyle.

According to The American College of Sports Medicine, “Participants do not need to know how to develop a safe and effective workout or which machines to use or for how long; it is already done for them. They simply have to show up with a positive attitude, participate, and most importantly, have fun.”
