Dozens of members, citizens, and civic leaders stopped by the YMCA of Greater Birmingham Northeast Branch to take part in a ceremony to celebrate the branch's recently completed renovations. Serving northeastern Jefferson County for close to 60 years, the YMCA of Greater Birmingham has invested new resources as well as deepened relationships with members of the City of Birmingham City Council, organizations such as Alabama Public Television, and the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama, and local companies like T-Mobile, all in an effort to improve the facility as well as ensure its position as a community asset in the area. Among those speaking at the event were Stan Law, President & CEO of the YMCA of Greater Birmingham, Terri Harvill, Executive Director of the Northeast Y and District Vice President, Lashunda Scales, Birmingham District 1 Councilor, and Kim Rafferty, Birmingham District 2 Councilor.
