Volunteer coaches play a vital role in the success of YMCA Youth Sports Programs. Volunteering to coach a youth sports team offers the chance to serve your community while making a huge impact on the lives of the children participating. Through Youth Sports, the YMCA strives to give children the opportunity to not only learn the skills required to play a specific sport, but to also instill in them the basic character traits of Honesty, Respect, and Social Responsibility.
Teaching a child these character traits through teamwork is one of the greatest ways to prepare them for life, not only as a child, but as a future adult. By teaching this character at an early age, the hope is that they become productive citizens who will pay it back as volunteers when they get older.
