Birmingham YMCA program and membership fees dont provide enough income to meet the financial needs of our community. As a non-profit organization, contributions from caring people like you are a crucial source of income, helping us keep our promise that no one is turned away.
Every year, over 1,000 families throughout Birmingham receive financial assistance. More will be turning to us this year for our help.Over 1,500 YMCA members and community volunteers support this effort by campaigning and making donations. All of the funds raised in the Strong Kids Campaign stay in our community to help local youth. By making a donation, you or your business can make a positive difference in a childs life. When a YMCA Volunteer contacts you, please make your generous pledge. Help us continue to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.
Our Promise: No one will EVER be turned away due to inability to pay. But many of our neighbors can't afford the character-building programs offered by the YMCA. Our Strong Kids Annual Support Campaign provides the funding necessary to ensure that our communitys children have access to the YMCA programs they need and deserve. Please help us keep our promise. Providing kids with the experiences they need to grow into successful adults is at the heart of all YMCA programs.Your Strong Kids Campaign contribution can give a child an opportunity he might otherwise never have.
After School Care
Your YMCA removes children from the "Danger Zone" of 3pm-6pm when at least 7 million school age children are left alone every day. Your $50 gift provides two weeks of after school care for a deserving child.
Swimming Lessons
Our youth deserve the opportunity to experience this life-changing and, often, life-saving accomplishment. Your $100 gift provides swimming lessons for two children.
Youth Sports
"Everybody plays, everybody wins" in YMCA sports. Your $200 gift gives two kids a full week of Sports Camp.
Teen Programming
Teens learn the value of helping others by volunteering with YMCA youth sports, childcare and tutoring and by participation in leadership training and positive peer activities. Your $300 gift allows six teens to attend a weekend Leadership Conference.
Summer Day Camps at all YMCA Branches and week-long stays at Camp Cosby
Increased self-esteem, confidence and the discovery of new talents, new friends and mentors are just some of the benefits. Your $500 gift sends a child to resident camp for a week. Your $800 gift gives a child the fun and security of day camp all summer long.
