Buddy Persoanl Training
We offer Buddy Personal Training. This allows you and a friend the opportunity to share one of our highly qualified Personal Trainers. This option makes training more economical as the 60 minute session cost per person is reduced from the one-on-one rate. This option allows for the extra motivation associated with a workout partner and a Personal Trainer to design and implement a program to help you reach your fitness goals. Studies have shown people are more responsbile and dedicated to their workouts with a partner. These same studies also show working out with a partner allows for your competitive nature to kick in, thus allowing you to reach your fitness goals quicker. Buddy PT partners can be arranged based on similar fitness levels and goals. If you are interested in pairing up with someone compatible to you contact Trevor Cole, Fitness Director @205.655.2224 or tcole@ymcabham.org

Group Personal Training is offered for 3-8 clients with one of our highly qualified Personal Trainers. This is the most econmical training plan as the cost per session is greatly reduced per person. Group PT is designed for people with an intermediate or advanced level of fitness and knowledge of working out. This is because group training limits the one-on-one attention available per session. Group PT requires a commitment to attend all schedule sessions. Periodically set Group PT classes are offered, if interested contact Trevor Cole, Fitness Director @205.655.2224 or tcole@ymcabham.org

5 Reason to use a Personal Trainer
1. One of the biggest reasons people use a Personal Trainer is to maximize the effectiveness of their time spent working out. Most people come to workout and put 45 to 90 minutes 2 to 3 times a week in the gym yet fail to reach their fitness goals. This is due, in part to the workout they’re doing is ineffective for one of two reasons. The first is the workout their doing is not properly designed for them with their fitness goals in mind. Most of the time the workout is a combination of what the fit gym guy does and what they read in lasts month’s fitness magazine. A Personal Trainer will spend time in the beginning ascertaining what a person’s needs and goals are, then from that design and implement a workout plan to reach those individual goals. Secondly, because of muscle adaptation workouts after 3-4 weeks lose their effectiveness and need to be modified and changed to effectively challenge the body. A Personal Trainer will continually modify and change your workout from session to session in order keep the body confused, thus preventing adaptation.
2. A second reason people use a Personal Trainer is accountability. An astounding 96% of all weight loss attempts fail. In a 2002 Consumer Reports article, “The Truth about Dieting”, in over 8000 weight loss successes stories the one constant factor was one-on-one counseling from a health and fitness professional such as a Personal Trainer. People who schedule time a Personal Trainer are more successful in achieving their fitness goals because they feel accountable to show up on time for sessions and work hard.
3. Specific goals are reasons a lot of people use a Personal Trainer. It may be to get ready for an upcoming wedding or special event you want to look your best for. You possibly you just found out the great news you’re expecting a child. Research has shown fitness throughout the pregnancy can lead to an easier delivery and easier time getting back in shape after the baby is born. A specific goal might be to prepare for your first 10k run or marathon even. A golfer might want to gain some flexibility and core strength. For the weekend warrior athlete they may want help staying at the top of their game. A Personal Trainer can help with all of these types and many more.
4. Many people are new or apprehensive to working out. A Personal Trainer can be very important and helpful to a wellness seeker with little experience. A Personal Trainer will teach and coach you on form and technique. They will prescribe and show how to safely use equipment and how to know your body’s limitations to ensure safety. For many they find it comfortable to use the equipment on their own after a few months and use a Personal Trainer to supplement their own workouts.
5. Many people use a Personal Trainer to keep working out fun and exciting. Most people would agree they want to be healthy and fit. However, working out does not come naturally to most. For this reason, a Personal Trainer can encourage you and modify your workouts to keep them fresh and fun. Whether you’re seeing a trainer once or twice a week or once every couple weeks, a Personal Trainer can keep working out exciting and fun and prevent plateaus which lead to boredom and inactivity.
If you fit into one or more of the categories listed above, a Trussville certified Personal Trainer is for you. For more information in getting started with a Personal Trainer call Trevor Cole, Fitness Director @205.655.2224 or tcole@ymcabham.org.
