Swim Lesson Class Breakdown
Parent/Child Swim Lessons
This class is for children ages 6 to 36 months.
This course is not designed to teach your child to swim, but will focus on water adjustment. This will be done through songs and games. As your child becomes more comfortable in the water, instructors will begin to work with you and your child on basic swimming skills. This will be done in such as way that gives the parent tools to start working with their child in the water. The Y stresses that swimming is a natural part of development, and with all things is different for every child. Please be patient with your child. Tasks such as going underwater and getting wet should be done on a voluntary basis by the child, not forced. Children who regard water as a happy place will learn skills much quicker than those that have been forced to do so.
