Swim Birmingham YMCA is a year round swim team offering training for beginners through national level competitive swimmers. SBY's certified coaches will dramatically improve your child's swimming ability while maintaining the YMCA's focus on positive character values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. SBY competes in both USA Swimming meets as well as YMCA competition.
Sadler McKeen wins Championship
At the recently completed USA Swimming Championships for Southeastern swimming, SBY's Sadler McKeen won the High Point Championship for the 9-10 boys. Congratulations Sadler!
8&under Boys Win District Championships
This past weekend in Tuscaloosa, SBY's 8&under boys team won the Central District championship by beating fifteen other teams!

- SBY wins the 2009 Southeast YMCA Regional Championship!
The weekend of Dec. 12th & 13th, SBY won the 2009 Southeast YMCA Regional Championship. Montgomery YMCA, which had won the past 18 years, finished second and Emerald Coast Swim Team from Florida finished third. Team High Point or Runner-up winners for SBY were:

SBY Swim Levels
Swim Birmingham YMCA offers different levels of swimming based on your child's age and ability to better prepare your child for competition. The different levels are as follows:
- Super Squad (~ages 5&6)
- Bronze Level (~ages 7&8)
- Silver Level (~ages 9&10)
- Gold Level (~ages 11&12)
- Pre-Senior Level (~ages 13&14)
- Senior Level (~15 and up)
- Home School (all)
- Masters (~22 and up)

SBY Payment Options
Most of the practice sites have two payment options for you to choose from that best fits the economic structure of your household. Your two options are as follows:
- Monthly Draft from a credit card or checking account
- Paid in Full at time of registration
Please see the practice site you will be using to see which option(s) is available. These are site specific.
The year is also broken into two Sessions: Fall & Spring
- Fall Session: August 17th - December 18th of 2009
- Spring Session: January 4th - May 14th of 2010
Super Squad
This is an entry level non-competitive group with emphasis on proper technique in the four competitive strokes. The low-key nature of this group enhances the learning process. Rather than putting emphasis on winning, we put emphasis on teamwork, good sportsmanship, self-esteem, and learning how to respect and get along with others. This team is also designed to help swimmers learn what practice is like, and they will get to participate in a swim meet that will only have swimmers just like them.
Cost:
Members: $160 for session + $75 registration fee
Non-Members: $210 for session + $75 registration fee
Bronze Level
In this level, swimmers are ready for a small amount of competition. Bronze swimmers are still working on all four competitive strokes, while learning the basics of swim team. Competition is encouraged along with good sportsmanship, team work, self-esteem, and respect.

Cost:
Members: $44 monthly + $75 annual registration fee or $175 paid in full + $75 annual registration fee.
Non-Members: $57 monthly + $75 annual registration fee or $227 paid in full + $75 annual registration fee.
Silver Level
This level is a more advanced level with emphasis on training principles. This group will enable the swimmers to meet new challenges and set new goals. Swimmers in this group compete on both the local and regional levels.

Members: $63 monthly + $75 annual registration fee or $250 paid in full + $75 annual registration fee
Non-Members: $$82 monthly +$75 annual registration fee or $325 paid in full + $75 annual registration fee
Gold Level
This level is an enviroment for committed and motiviated young swimmers who desire to set goals and work toward the highest National Age Levels Standards. The training in this level is advanced. Swimmers must meet time standards and practice requirements to be promoted and remain in this group.

Cost:
Members: $70 monthly + $75 annual registration fee or $280 paid in full + $75 annual registration fee.
Non-Members: $85 monthly + $75 annual registration fee or $340 paid in full + $75 annual registration fee
Senior Level
Swimmers in this level have the ability to train consistently in a highly intense training environment. The objective of this group is to reach the National and International levels of swimming. Swimmers must meet time standards and practice requiements to remain in this group.

Cost:
Members: $87 monthly + $75 annual registration fee or $345 paid in full + $75 annual registration fee
Non-Members: $111 monthly + $75 annual registration fee or $442 paid in full + $75 annual registration fee

The optional meets include a mix of local and travel meets. Your-Round meets have additional fees for swimmers to participate.
