Being a lifeguard can be a very challenging and rewarding job. Upon successful completion of the Lifeguard course, each participant will receive an American Red Cross Universal Certification indicating Lifeguard/First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. This certification will be valid for 2 years, assuming the participant stays in good standing with the American Red Cross. Participants must attend all classes, as well as pass two final written exams and three water scenario tests. Unsuccessful completion of any of these conditions will result in failure of the class. No refunds will be issued if a participant fails the class, no exceptions.
All participants must be at least 15 years of age or older before the fist day of class. Additionally, all participants must be able to successfully complete the following: swim 300 yards continuously, tread water for two minutes, and recover a 10-pound brick from the bottom of the pool in a timed event.
