Specialty Camps Information

Specialty camps are offered on the weeks listed below. They are concentrated on specific interests, and differ from our traditional camps. Each camp has a specific theme, and will focus specifically on that theme. Spaces are limited! Water Palooza Camp: 
Week of June 4-8.
Age: entering 4th-8th grade.
If you love water, this camp is definitely for you! Participants will go to Point Mallard, Whitewater, and Alabama Adventure.
Cost: $145 Members Tues-Thurs $185 Nonmembers

Laser Tag Camp
Week of June 11th-15th
Entering 3rd-6th grade
If you love laser tag then this camp is for you. Campers will go to different laser tag venues and play laser tag. Campers will also learn the rules and skills of playing laser tag. Campers will also participate in fun laser tag tournaments. In the afternoon, they will participate in swimming and camp activities. At the end of the week, campers will compete on teams to see who learned the most in the ultimate Laser Tag tournament!
Cost: $145 members $241 non-members

Bowling Camp (1):
Week of June 11-15
Ages: 2nd – 7th grade
The YMCA is teaming up with Lightning Strikes to give the campers the opportunity to improve their bowling skills. Participants will spend the afternoon at the bowling alley where they will bowl two per day. Lunch will be included!!!
Costs: $145 Members $175 Nonmembers


Ultimate Ocean Commotion Camp:
Week of June 18-22.
Age: entering K5-1st grade.
Participants will be involved in the Ultimate Exploration camp at the McWane Center. Campers will spend each morning at the McWane Center unlocking their imagination with some hands on science fun. Topics will include earth science and oceanography. Dive into the study of water and learn all about the life that call the oceans their home. Lunch is provided daily with this camp. Campers will spend their afternoons swimming and playing games at the YMCA, Birmingham
Cost: $161 Members $241 Nonmembers


Magic Camp:
Week of June 18-22
Ages: 3rd-8th grade
Larry Moore, The Magic Man, will be coming to the Trussville YMCA! His presentation combines Magic, Comedy, Juggling, Vaudeville, Balloonsculpting, and other aspects too numerous to mention into a program that is sure to be a hit with everyone. He has something for everyone, and he will be sure to teach your child some new and exciting magic tricks. Only 15 spots available so make sure you sign up soon!
Cost: $140 Members $167 Nonmembers


Fishing’ Fun:
Week of June 25-29.
Ages: 3rd-7th grade
The Trussville YMCA will be heading to lakes and ponds around the Birmingham area to experience some fishing fun. Campers will spend time learning about fishing techniques, conservation, tying flies & jigs, and will get plenty of practice fishing. The camp will give children the opportunity to have fun while being educated on local habitats and ethical practices. (Campers will need to bring their own Rod and Reel)
Costs: $150 Members $170 Nonmembers


Shop ‘til You Drop:
Week of July 2-6.
Age: Entering 4th -7th grade
No boys allowed in this camp. Activities will include: Manicures, Pedicures, Facials, Styling hair, and more! Participants will go to a different mall each day and will enjoy a life of luxury and style!
Summit, Galleria, Pinnacle, and Brookwood Malls
Cost: $179 Members $226 Nonmembers


Boy’s Rock Camp:
Week of July 2-6.
Age: Entering 4th-7th grade
NO girls allowed in this camp. Boys will ride go-carts, play laser tag, go to pump it up, rock climb, canoe, play miniature golf, go bowling and much more!!
Cost: $179 Members $226 Nonmembers


Flag Football:
Week of July 9-13.
Age: Entering 3rd to 7th grade
We will be teaming up with former football players from UAB, Birmingham Southern and Millsap’s College to teach your child to learn proper football techniques. We will work on catching, throwing, and blocking to make your child a successful football player. By the end of the week, we will be holding tournaments to see which team will be crowned Flag Football Champion!
Costs: $128 Members $149 Nonmembers


Robots Rule Camp:
Week of July 9th-13th
Ages: 4th-6th grade
Campers will become techno savvy and learn how to build and program robots to explore their world and navigate through mazes. The McWane center robots are ready for action- they are waiting for you. Campers will spend each morning at the McWane Center unlocking their imagination with some hands on science fun. Lunch is provided at this camp.
Costs: $161 Members $241 non-members


Food for Thought/Cooking Camp:
Week of July 16-20
Age: all ages
This delicious camp will be during our Around the World Week. We will be traveling around Birmingham looking at different sites and eating at wonderful restaurants. We will be eating a variety of different foods from different cultures. The best part is that you will not have to pack a lunch for a whole week! Campers will also be heading to the youth center to cook up deserts, and special meals.

Basketball Camp:
Week of July 16-20
Age: Entering 2nd to 5th grade
YMCA trained staff will offer instructions in the fundamentals of basketball. Children will work on correct form for basic shooting and dribbling. Campers will also learn strategic defense and the meaning of team work.
Cost: $98 Members $130 Nonmembers


Do It Yourself Crafts:
Week of July 23-27
Ages: entering 3rd-7th grade
The YMCA will be teaming up with Do It Yourself Crafts to show your child a step-by-step approach to painting a beautiful masterpiece.
Costs: $180 Members $199 Nonmembers

Week of July 23-27
Ages: 2nd – 7th grade

Need for Speed:
Week of July 30-August 3.
Ages 4th-8th
If you like field trips, then this is the camp for you. Participants will visit many different hot spots throughout the week. Field trips will include:
Six Flags
Alabama Adventure
Trussville Playstation
Huntsville Space and Rocket Center
Treetop Adventure
