Sports Camps
Each of our sports camps includes two to three hours of daily instruction clinics, as well as practice and games. Sports fundamentals and skill building, team building, and sportsmanship are included in each of the fun sports listed below. All camps are divided into age-appropriate groups based on ability. Some sports are taught by outside professional instructors or coaches, and YMCA trained sports instructors will teach others. Each sports camp will include opportunities for skill development, recreational enjoyment, and swimming on most days.
Tennis
Entering-1-6 Grade
Match point! Under the direction of the Pelham Racquet Center, campers will receive instruction and gain a better understanding of the game of tennis by participating in drills and playing fun games. Campers will travel by bus each morning to Pelham Park and spend their afternoons in traditional camp activities such as swimming, games and more. Equipment needed: Tennis racquet

Bowling Camp
Entering 1-8th Grade
Ever wanted to learn how to nail a 7-10 split? You may not be able to at first, but after this camp you will be well on your way. Each morning, campers will visit Oak Mountain Bowling Lanes and receive instruction from their coaches on how to bowl. Beginning with the basics, campers will eventually learn how avoid the gutter and smash some pins with every throw. Lunch is included. After lunch, campers will return to the Y to enjoy swimming and camp activities.

Golf Camp
Entering 4-8 Grade
A fun-filled week of golf and golf activities. Our golf campers develop effective swings and learn golf rules, etiquette and sportsmanship. Campers will go to Timberline Golf Course each morning for instruction from their golf pros. A field trip to Strike Four will be taken to practice putting skills. Campers need to bring their own golf clubs each day. Swimming time is also provided.

Karate Camp
Entering 3-7 Grade
Hi-yah! Every day campers will receive instruction from professional instructors. Through the proven teaching methods they will learn respect, self-control and self-defense. Practice and games also reinforce ways of how to respect others and increase coordination and self-esteem. All drills and skills are practiced with a safety first mentality. The rest of the camp day will be spent swimming and enjoying other fun camp activities.

YMCA-University of Montevallo Sports Camps
The Pelham YMCA and the University of Montevallo will continue to partner to bring the following sports camp to your camper. The University of Montevallo will bring their staff and players to instruct our campers in the fundamentals, rules of the game, teamwork, skill development and more. Campers will get 1 hour of swimming each day along with plenty of breaks in between. All camps will be held at the YMCA. All campers will be split into age appropriate groups during the week.
Volleyball Camp
Entering 4-8 Grade
Dig, set, Spike! Under the guidance of Head Coach Katie O’Brien and her players, your camper will learn to serve, set and play the ever growing sport of volleyball. Individual and team drills, along with scrimmages will help your child learn the game of volleyball. Swim time is provided daily. Equipment needed: volleyball and knee pads

Basketball Camp
Entering 1-5 Grade
He Shoots….He Scores! Led by Men’s Head Coach Danny Young, this will be great basketball camp for your child to learn individual and team drills. Coach Young will conduct drills for dribbling, shooting, passing and defense. Each afternoon, campers will play games to practice skills learned. Swim time is provided daily. Soccer Camp
Entering 1-5 Grade
He shoots, gooooal! Soccer camp will allow the campers develop the fundamental skills of the game, sportsmanship, and teamwork from Women’s Head Coach Patricia Hughes and her team. Friday the campers will put their knowledge and skills to the test at the YMCA soccer fields where they will play a tournament. Swim time is provided daily. Equipment needed: soccer ball and shin guards
