Life at the pool 

The Mountain Brook branch has one saline (salt water) recreation pool, one baby pool, and 2 whirlpools.  The recreation pool is 25 yards long, with a depth range of 3.5-8.5 feet.  It is covered in the off-season for year-round availability.  The baby pool has a depth of 1 foot on both sides and 2 feet in the middle.  It is open from June to August.  The whirlpools are located in both the men and women's locker rooms.

The recreational pool hours are:

Monday-Thursday 5:00am - 8:30pm; Friday 5:00am - 7:30pm; Saturday 7:00am - 5:30pm; Sunday 8:00am - 6:30pm.  Open swim starts at 9:00am each day.

Celebrate your birthday here at the YMCA with a POOL PARTY!

Details: 2 hour party with 1 hour and 15 minutes in the pool and 45 minutes in the party room.

$125 for members and $150 for non-members for up to 25 swimmers!

SWIM TEST

For the safety of your child, the Birmingham YMCAs have all children 14 and under take a swim test. the swim test is as follows: The child must jump into the 5 foot area of the pool, swim on top of the water approximately 40 foot, and tread water for a few seconds If the child passes the test, he or she will receive a re-usable Green wristband and may swim free in the pool. If the child does not pass the test or does not want to take the test, he or she will receive a re-usable Red wristband and will need to do one of the following: The child must wear a life jacket; OR If no life jacket is worn, an adult 18 or older must be in the pool with the child no more than an arm's length away.
